David Beckham may have retired from professional soccer more than a decade ago. But you wouldn't know it by looking at the 48-year-old, who often shares his fitness routines on social media, typically appearing in various states of undress.

Such was the case on Wednesday when Beckham posted a short video to Instagram performing a set of hanging knee raises. The workout move is a great way to target the lower abs by hanging straight from a bar, tightening the core and bringing the knees up to the chest at a 90-degree angle, then lowering the legs back down to the starting position and repeating at an even tempo.

"'Knee’s up to your chest,'" he captioned the video, tagging performance coach Bobby Rich and telling him to "shut up." "[Hair is] a mess, that’s more important right now," he added, of his trademark undercut hairstyle.

Of course, maintaining a healthy routine and staying in shape has been important to the former footballer, even in retirement. In a television interview back in 2019, Beckham spilled some of the secrets behind keeping himself in peak shape.

"You don't have to go and spend a huge amount of money going to the gym," he said at the time. "Three or four times a week I walk my daughter to school instead of driving her, or she bikes home with me. It's the little things that make a difference."

However, he did admit that sometimes it could be difficult finding time to workout when you're raising a family. "It's a struggle, when you get older, waking up in the morning, getting all the kids out of the door to school on time," he added.
