Sure, COVID-driven social isolation has compromised your ability to practice your chosen occupation. Imagine what it must be like for renaissance man Daveed Diggs—he’s a film producer, screenwriter, songwriter, singer, rapper, and actor! Where have you seen him? Well, he played both Lafayette and Jefferson in the game-changing musical Hamilton; he leads the avant-hip-hop group, Clipping; he’s among the star-studded voice cast of Disney’s new animated feature Soul, and he currently stars in TV’s Snowpiercer. Oh, and he’s won a Grammy and a Tony!

Still, Diggs has been keeping it busy, fun, and real. And somehow he found time to turn us on to some of the products that have become his faves during the pandemic.

“One of my co-producers, Jess, and I are always trying to outdo each other in a fashion battle. She was the one who told me about these,” he reports. No wonder he’s impressed: These are COVID-standard KN95 masks made of five-ply material and featuring a nose bridge and adjustable ear straps.

Diggs particularly likes the wide color selection. “I can always match my outfit...cuz you’ve got to make it fashionable!” And just $36 bucks for a set of 10 will definitely have you breathing a bit easier.

It’s one thing to miss your favorite treadmill at the gym during the pandemic; you can always go for a run outside. But how do you keep those biceps and triceps toned without a set of weights? Diggs has found the answer.

These adjustable free weights have been very, very helpful,” he says. They go from 5 to 25 pounds with a simple twist of the wrist, take up less than a square meter of precious space in your pad, and include a stylish resting tray to keep them from rolling across your floor. Says Diggs: “At this point they’re probably more functional than any gym I used to go to.”

“The third thing I’ve been obsessed with during quarantine is audio equipment,” Diggs says. “Any excuse to be in my studio, because we don’t gather the same way we used to.” Whether you’re podcasting, Skype-ing, or laying down beats, this FIFINE mic setup can make anyone look and sound like a pro. It mounts to your desk or table with a simple C-clamp, its Double Pop Filter gets rid of background noise and “plosive” popping, and its USB cord makes for an easy-peasy plug-and-play hookup to either Mac or Windows computers

No wonder Diggs is such a fan of Nature Valley’s yummy, healthy snacks: They’re like a perfect storm, bringing together outdoorsy fun, environmental consciousness, and warm childhood memories. “I’ve been trying to be outside and hike as much as possible, which is one of the great things that led to my collaboration with Nature Valley—to celebrate the fact that [the brand] helped restore access to 10,000 miles of trails in national parks.”

Then there’s the personal angle: “These bars have been around a long time. I ate them growing up—I’m a big fan of the peanut butter—so maybe there’s a bit of nostalgia as well.”
