Dave McCary Reportedly Proposed to Emma Stone in a "Saturday Night Live" Office

Just over two a year ago—December 2019, to be exact—Emma Stone and Dave McCary revealed their engagement after two years of dating. While the pair has since kept their relationship, including their secret nuptials, private, new details about their proposal are now coming to light. According to a Page Six source, McCary popped the question to Stone at the place where they first met: in an office at Saturday Night Live headquarters, in Manhattan's 30 Rock building, the insider told the outlet. "No one was there and by all accounts, it was very romantic," they added.

Shortly after, the pair announced their new status as fiancés on McCary's Instagram account with a simple heart caption. The post also showed off Stone's pearl engagement ring, set within a diamond halo.

Though they made their engagement public, we have very few details about their wedding day. However, People reported that the pair had officially tied the knot in September 2020, after they were seen wearing matching wedding bands. This news, though, came months after rumors had already started swirling about their nuptials: The actress joined Reese Witherspoon's Hello Sunshine series in mid-May wearing a gold band—instead of her pearl engagement ring—and eluded to the fact that she wed McCary when talking about marriage with another guest, Dr. Harold Koplewicz. "If you marry an anxious man, you're going to have to know me the rest of my life," Dr. Koplewicz, a psychiatrist, joked. Stone responded: "Thankfully, I didn't do that."

Regardless the details, one thing is clear: The couple supports each other unconditionally in their personal and professional lives. "She is professional in every way, very talented and focused on her work, and Dave respects that," a source previously shared with People. "He totally supports her, and is unselfish in his desire for her success. Those are great qualities in a man for someone like Emma. She is impressed by his talent and respects him immensely."
