As popular as HBO's Game of Thrones prequel series House of the Dragon proved to be, there were times during its first season that even the most willing fantasy fans found it difficult to suspend their disbelief. This had less to do with accepting the existence of fire-breathing beasts and arcane prophecies than it did with the sheer volume of kids named Aegon... and the fact that it is nigh-on impossible to tell several characters apart.

During his guest hosting gig on Saturday Night Live this weekend, comedian Dave Chappelle riffed on some of the harder-to-swallow moments, including the illusion-shattering wig-lines of the Velaryon family, who in this adaptation of George R.R. Martin's work were cast with Black performers.

"I am the biggest Game of Thrones fan," he said. "And I got to tell you, I love that they're including Black characters. But to be honest, the Black characters … they take me out of it a little bit. It’s that blonde hair and old timey accents. It’s a little jarring, where are these people from?"

He then proceeded to introduce a "sneak peek" at the second season of House of the Dragon. The skit poked fun at the confusing names and incestuously tangled family tree of the Targaryen dynasty, and the increasingly decrepit King Viserys, before introducing a host of new allies from House Velaryon, all of whom were returning characters from Chappelle's Show. These included Silky Johnson, Tyrone Biggums and Rick James, as well as "Larry Targaryen", portrayed by Ice-T in a surprise cameo.

Given that there is a wait of at least a year before the real Season 2 begins, we'll take all the House of the Dragon content we can get. Even if it involves Tyrone lighting his pipe with a well-timed "dracarys."
