Zelda Williams, daughter of Robin Williams, took to her Instagram story yesterday to share her distaste for the use of AI.

SAG-AFTRA has been on strike since July, with one of their demands being for more protection against contracts that sign away actors' likeness.

Williams began her story with "I am not an impartial voice in SAG's fight against AI" before going on to say, "I've witnessed for YEARS how many people want to train these models to create/recreate actors who cannot consent, like Dad".

She also said, "These recreations are, at their very best, a poor facsimile of greater people, but at their worst, a horrendous Frankensteinian monster, cobbled together from the worst bits of everything this industry is, instead of what it should stand for."

Robin Williams died by suicide at the age of 63 after a lengthy battle with anxiety and depression, and the autopsy revealed he had diffuse Lewy bodies.

Zelda explained that she "already heard AI used to get [Robin Williams] 'voice' to say whatever people want" and said she found "it personally disturbing".

The Writers Guild of America (WGA) managed to secure protection against AI in their landmark deal, so there is hope that SAG-AFTRA may receive the same protections.

They will enter bargaining with the Alliance of Motion Picture and Television Producers (AMPTP) today.
