How About a Dating Show Set in the Freezing Cold?

In a world inundated with "Island" dating shows like Love Island, Temptation Island and FBoy Island, it's no secret we're all hooked on the drama, the romance and the sun-kissed settings of the usual fare. But let's get real—there's only so many piña coladas and highly visible tan lines we can take. With sandy beaches and tropical getaways becoming a dime a dozen, it's high time we explored a different kind of dating show, one that dares to embrace the beauty of dry hands and chapped lips. That’s right, a cold-weather dating show where bundled up (but still very hot!) contestants meet and greet in subzero conditions and then make out in a light flurry of snowflakes under the cold starry night sky. Move over, bikini-clad contestants; it's time for single babes and bros in giant parkas, knee-high snow boots and wooly scarves to take our TVs by (snow) storm.

Producers, here's what we're thinking:

The potential for fun dates is endless

I’m talking ice skating, snowball fights, building snowmen, ice sculpting, polar plunges, sleigh rides, snowboarding! The list goes on and on. And think of the opportunities for the dates to get hilarious, too. Picture a couple attempting to ice skate hand-in-hand, only to slip and fall flat on their beautiful butts. Now picture another couple trying to snowboard ... and falling flat on their beautiful butts! America’s Funniest Home Videos could never.

The winter wardrobe choices would be unforgettable

Who cares about trying to look "sexy" in swimwear? This show is all about who can rock the cutest, coziest ensembles. There’d be contestants sashaying into dates in their finest furry boots, flaunting their puffy jackets and trying not to trip on their snowshoes. And if you, the producers, want them to wear less clothing (you know you will), what’s better than a hot tub in the snow? It’s the best of both worlds!

The challenges would be epic

Instead of the usual island games, where you have to see who can, like, blow up a pool float the fastest, contestants would be battling snowball wars, competing in ice-sculpture competitions and testing their survival skills in snowstorms. Here’s a free idea for the producers: Let’s drop a potential couple straight into the icy tundra a la Naked and Afraid and see what happens! I can guarantee that it’ll be more interesting than watching people reapply sunscreen all day and talk about whether or not they had a good chat.

But it's not just about the laughs; a dating show set in the freezing cold would also reveal a whole new level of resilience and determination in its participants. Surviving the elements would become a testament to the strength of budding relationships. Forget "coupling up"—it's all about "snuggling up" to stay alive! Or, if we don’t want the show to get that extreme, it would still be fun to watch a snowstorm interrupting a date, forcing the couple to take cover in a snow fort they hastily build, resulting in a cozy and unexpected bonding experience. Frozen-vibes, much?

The romance would be at a ten

Instead of basking in the hot sun, couples will cozy up by the fire, sipping hot cocoa and stealing fire-side kisses. Snow angels won't be just in the snow—these contestants will be making them in each other's hearts! Hello, there’s the first season tagline. You’re welcome, Netflix! Or how about “Netflix and REALLY Chill”?? This is writing itself! Wait, I’ve got another one: As the temperatures drop, the sparks will be flying higher than shooting stars in the winter-night sky. (That last one might need some work but that’s why you have writers!)

I think we can now all agree it’s time to say goodbye to sandy shores and sunburns, and dive straight into a frosty world of cold-weather courtship. Because when it comes to finding love, temperature doesn't matter—it's all about the warm hearts and icy glances that make us melt. Much like the explorers of years gone by who first trekked into the icy wilderness, cold-weather dating shows are a fertile yet uncharted territory. Whoever amongst us is brave enough to get chilly with it will almost certainly be rewarded with riches beyond belief—or at least the warm, fuzzy feeling of giving the people what they want.
