Kate Beckinsale addressed her relationship with SNL star Pete Davidson-the one that has so far included car makeouts and parent meetings-for the first time in an interview released today. While Beckinsale never named Davidson by name, she talked candidly to the Los Angeles Times about how the public's interest in their dating has changed her life. She also made it clear that because she likes Davidson so much, dealing with the paparazzi and media coverage is worth it.

The Los Angeles Times reporter asked Beckinsale if she was surprised by the media attention she and Davidson get. "I’m surprised by the interest," Beckinsale said. "I’ve never been in this position before-never dated anybody who comes with their own bag of mischief. It’s all quite shocking, and something to get used to. I think if you liked the person less, you would bow out of it. If that were the main thrust of the relationship, there would be a problem. But it’s not."

She did admit though that she'd rather not have the cameras on her and Davidson all the time. "I’d rather not have people hiding outside my house," she said. "It’s a little old fashioned to have a woman’s personal life [looked at like that]. It’s a little bit tired."

Beckinsale's interview was conducted days before the actress took down all her Instagram posts. A day before she did that, she made headlines for responding to David Spade's comment about her "liking them [men] young," by writing to him, “@Davidspade never gonna happen grandpa.”
