Date Night Beauty with the Streicher Sisters
Hair genius Ashley, brow artist Kristie, and makeup maven Jenn on their ideal date spots and essentials.
As sisters, we’re constantly giving each other advice, whether solicited or not. And since we admittedly revel in a bit of girl talk, love and relationships are high on the Streicher list of sisterly conversation topics. We’ve always asked each other what to wear on dates, and swapped timely beauty ideas on which makeup will survive an impromptu dip in the pool or how to deal with hair during (and after) a sunset motorcycle ride. Yes, as true California girls, we love the outdoors, so it should come as no surprise that all our favorite dates take place en plein air. Below, a few of our preferred activities, and, of course, the corresponding beauty tips and tricks for each. We hope they’ll inspire torrid romance—or at the very least, a fun summer fling.

The Date: Margaritas at Malo and a Dodgers game. “Malo’s original space is Silver Lake and has cool black and white chevron walls and outdoor seating. You’ll feel cooler just by sitting there and eating their insane tacos.”
Ashley’s Tip: We ride there on a motorcycle because you can’t get parking. I love being outside for a date, there’s no pressure to doll up and it breaks the ice—you can’t talk in a movie theater. The Date: Skinny dipping. “I love to swim and swimming naked is the ultimate expression of freedom. It’s definitely not a first-date event but skinny dipping is one of my favorite hot summer dates.”

Clearly stay-put mascara is a must for this type of activity— I don’t think there’s any better look than emerging from the water with dripping-wet hair and silent film star worthy long lashes. The only accessory you’ll need.

The art park hosts this every Friday at sunset on the lawn of a historic Frank Lloyd Wright house, and Silver Lake Wine serves four selections. There are kids running around so I love that I can bring my son and set him loose while I get some quality alone time with my husband—date night without a sitter. I’ve tried to get my sisters to try it but they say they don’t qualify because they don’t have kids!
Jenn’s Tip: Bring a blanket and pack a picnic basket for the full experience.
