Darlings, Audrey Hepburn Almost Didn't Star in Breakfast at Tiffany's

Certain things just go together. Tomatoes and mayo. Sweet tea and porches. William Faulkner and a fireplace.

And of course, Audrey Hepburn and Breakfast at Tiffany's. It's hard to believe but the famed 1961 movie almost cast a blonde bombshell as the leading lady.

Who, pray tell, was that? None other than Marilyn Monroe. Film director Matthew Miele of the documentary Crazy About Tiffany's, shared the intel with the U.K.'s The Telegraph before the film's London premiere in 2016. "What’s interesting is in the film we mention that Marilyn Monroe was originally being considered for the role. It changed everything about the image so I think they lucked out with that," Miele said in the interview.

We can hardly imagine how different the timeless film would be without Hepburn stealing our hearts as Holly Golightly.
