I talk a lot about knitwear and fleece jackets this time of year, but jeans are the core of my winter wardrobe. My Levi's get the most wear, followed by a newly purchased relaxed-fit pair by Amo and a dark wash straight-leg jean from Reformation. I have most of my bases covered in the denim department, in terms of having a fancier pair that I can dress up with a silk blouse and a comfy, casual pair that I can throw on to run to the bodega or to a late lunch, but I'm missing "fun" pants. "Fun" pants are those conversation-starting bottoms that you keep forever, because they're the equivalent to a sartorial smile — they brighten up your closet and therefore your life.
Still Here, a New York-based premium denim label, specializes in "fun" pants. Launched in 2017, the brand makes jeans with playful additions, like hand-painted stripes and chainstitch embroidery. Most of the pairs come in a business in the front, party in the back style, meaning the front of the pants look like well-constructed blue jeans, while the back is where the fun (see below) comes in.
I would like to bring color to my denim collection with a high-rise straight-leg style. Not only do they come in my ideal cropped cut and not-too-snug fit, but they also feature a bold stripe pattern down the back. Here's hoping they go well with my new footwear obsession: clogs!
Still Here Tate Cropped Striped High-Rise Straight-Leg Jeans, $280, available here.
