Danny DeVito Takes Cardboard Cutout of High Schooler to It's Always Sunny in Philadelphia Set

Danny DeVito, she loves your work!!!

Last month, Pennsylvania high school student Allison Closs was having a little trouble finding a prom date, so she turned, as one does in times of need, to the Internet. She ordered a life-size cutout of Danny DeVito, dressed him up with a tie and boutonniere, carried him to prom, and had a night to remember with her new pal Danny. Afterward, she shared a series of hilarious photobooth shots she took with her date at prom on Instagram, writing, "A night I’ll never forget 💙."

In a YouTube video Allison posted the day after prom, she explained just how big of a Danny DeVito fan she was. "I was having trouble finding a prom date," she said. "I couldn't find myself a date in real life or with an actual human. So, I bought one on Amazon!" The resourceful teen purchased the cutout for $100, borrowed a tie from her brother, and attached Cardboard Danny to a scooter so she could pull him along beside her with a leash. "I have always loved Danny. I loved him on It's Always Sunny in Philadelphia, I loved him in Hercules and Matilda. I just love him in every form he takes," Allison said in the video, as clips played of her posing with her date for pics and shoving him in her car. "Danny was there for me when I really needed him. He treats me the way a woman should be treated. I guess you could say we were made for one another."

As magical as that story is, it got even better this week, when Danny's It's Always Sunny in Philadelphia costar Rob McElhenney shared the actor's incredible response to being "chosen" as Allison's prom date. "Hey Allison- I heard you took cardboard Danny to Prom. What a coincidence. He took cardboard Allison to Paddy's..." Rob captioned a series of photos on Instagram on Monday. The first is a shot of Allison and Cardboard Danny heading to prom; the second shows IRL Danny hanging with Cardboard Allison at Paddy's, the fictional It's Always Sunny location where characters hang out; and the third is an exquisite photo collage of the two cardboard cutouts.

After spotting the photos online, Allison took to social media to repost the photo of "her" at Paddy's and share her excitement about her continued cardboard-based friendship with Danny DeVito. "I AM SHOOKETH," she tweeted. "Thank you SO, SO MUCH @RMcElhenney and @DannyDeVito for fulfilling my dream of visiting Paddy's Pub from @alwayssunny !!" Dreams really do come true!
