Sports Illustrated Swimsuit announced the cover star for its 2018 issue to be relative-unknown model Danielle Herrington on Tuesday.

By covering the issue, the 24-year-old beauty becomes just the third black woman to ever land the coveted gig. Tyra Banks was its cover star in 1997 and Beyoncé covered the issue in 2007.

But who is Danielle Herrington? Landing the cover of the Sports Illustrated Swimsuit issue is a surefire way to become a superstar, so we've rounded up some details about Herrington to help you get to know her.

She was in the Sports Illustrated Swimsuit rookie class in 2017 and magazine editor MJ Day said that she was a "shy girl" on set of her first SI shoot, but this year she was a "completely different person" while shooting in the Caribbean.

Herrington hails from Compton, California, but she now lives in Brooklyn, New York.

Covering the 2018 Sports Illustrated Swimsuit issue isn't her first big gig. The model has also posed for the 2018 CR Girls Calendar, walked in designer Philipp Plein's shows and appeared in the pages of GQ.

She can't believe that she landed the Swimsuit issue cover. Herrington opened up to Sports Illustrated Swimsuit about snagging the enviable gig. ""I can't even believe I'm saying this. I am the 2018 Sports Illustrated Swimsuit cover model," Herrington said. "I can't wait for everyone to see it. I'm emotional, but I just want to say thank you to everyone who believed in me. I put in so much work for this, and I'm feeling very accomplished, happy and excited."

She wants to be a role model for young women, as evidenced by her Instagram caption announcing her Sports Illustrated Swimsuit cover on Tuesday morning. "I dedicate this to all the young girls out there," she wrote. "Work hard, surround yourself with good people who believe in you and your DREAMS WILL COME TRUE!"
