If you loved Harry Potter as a kid, chances are you dreamed of owning a wand, running off to Hogwarts, and attending the Yule Ball. Maybe you still dream of it, I dunno! Well, the former boy wizard himself, Daniel Radcliffe, recently appeared on Hot Ones and revealed some tidbits about what it was really like on set, including breaking wands and eating some gross prop food.

While downing some spicy wings, host Sean Evans asked Daniel about the best and worst things he ate on the sets of the films. Daniel said that when he was younger, he really would eat a ton of food during the films' banquet scenes. Yes, what you assumed as a child (i.e. they got to eat all that delicious food) was really true!

"The crazy like banquet scenes at Hogwarts...the breakfasts particularly, where I was just an 11-12-year-old child just piling on fried eggs and bacon and sausages and baked beans every morning for just days. So that was great," he shared.

But it wasn't all delicious English Breakfasts: Daniel said the worst thing he had to eat on set was the prop food for Gillyweed, a magic plant that allows people to breathe underwater. Daniel said it was actually black licorice lace that was designed to look like a seaweed plant, which sounds unpleasant!

"I remember by the third or fourth take of that I was like 'oh, how many more of these are we gonna do?'" he recalled.

As far as other on-set shenanigans, he responded to reports that he had gone through around 60 wands and more than 100 pairs of glasses throughout the course of the films. He confirmed those numbers were exaggerated, especially the glasses portion, though he admitted he had a habit of using the wands to drum on his leg with, which meant he broke quite a few by accident.

"The wands I broke a lot because I would just like drum on my legs with it all the time," Daniel said. "So, once every three or four weeks, it would weaken to the point where it just snapped. So, I would say I was very sorry to the prop master, and he would give me a look like, 'Please stop drumming.'"

Honestly, if any of us were given those wands as a kid we would have definitely done the same thing, so!
