Once upon a time, Daniel Radcliffe, aka the ~Boy Who Lived~, hung up his robe and wand in 2011 in order to pursue other artistic ventures—including a 2013 biographical drama called Kill Your Darlings that resulted in a chance encounter with his now-girlfriend of over a decade, Erin Darke. Now, the longtime couple lives a relatively low-key life in New York together and even recently welcomed a baby boy. 🥺

But if you're curious about who the Harry Potter alum has been linked to for all these years, we've got you covered. Here's what to know about Erin, from her movie meet-cute with Daniel to those wedding rumors. 👀 Let's get into it, shall we? We shall! Starting with this fact...

Erin also happens to be a very talented actor

According to her IMDb, Erin kicked off her acting career in 2009-ish when she appeared in a short film titled Obelisk Road. Since then, she's been featured in tons of films and TV shows including the Beach Boys biopic Love & Mercy and the Oscar-nominated movie Still Alice. Plus, she's been on a number of episodes of The Marvelous Mrs. Maisel, Good Girls Revolt, and Dietland.

Erin's success can obviously be attributed to her hard work, but the fact that she's pretty much always been interested in *showbiz* definitely helped her along the way too. Case in point? She enrolled at the University of Michigan-Flint when she was just 16-years-old (!) and graduated with a bachelor of fine arts in theatre performance in 2005. Erin has previously mentioned her experience studying the arts not only helped her refine her craft but also truly catapulted her career.

During a full-circle interview with her alma mater, the actor mused, "Particularly because I was so young when I started, the small and very personal nature of the theatre department at UM-Flint was incredibly helpful for me to grow as both a person and a performer. They were patient and kind, but also constantly pushed me to challenge myself, explore, and work hard. These are all things that are essential to a career in this industry and I'm grateful to have learned them early."

But Erin first got her start in the entertainment world working in a casting office

After she graduated from college, Erin headed to New York City to officially realize her acting career and ended up getting cast in a number of plays. She also took an internship at a casting office to learn more about the business—a position that ended up turning into a full-time job as a casting associate on projects including The Carrie Diaries, The Wolverine, and Noah.

"I really enjoyed the job. I learned so much about the industry and auditioning and I got to work with these amazing directors on incredible projects. It was great, but I knew my heart was still in acting, so I am back to pursuing that full-time," Erin reminisced about the beginning of her career during that same UN-Flint News interview.

She met Daniel while they worked on a movie together in 2012

The couple met on the set of their 2013 film Kill Your Darlings, and apparently the connection between them was instant and intense. 👀 "It'll be a hell of a story to tell our kids one day because of what our characters do with each other," Daniel said while recalling an intimate scene between himself and Erin, who played his love interest. "Our characters are meeting and flirting with each other, so there is this kind of sweet record of us just meeting for the first time and flirting."

Even in a prior 2015 interview with Playboy, Daniel revealed he wasn't actually acting when they filmed their scenes together because his growing feelings for Erin were very much real: "There's no acting going on—not from my end, anyway. There's a moment when she makes me laugh, and I'm laughing as me and not as my character. She was incredibly funny and smart. I knew I was in trouble."

Despite knowing each other for practically an entire decade, these two have really only collaborated professionally a handful of times. (Take, for instance, in 2021 during an episode of Daniel's comedy series Miracle Workers.) Overall, though, we shouldn't expect these crossovers to happen *all* the time....

"We definitely like [working together], but it's not something we want to do all the time," Daniel dished to People during a 2022 interview. "We obviously met on film and so getting to do stuff on Miracle Workers with her last year was incredibly special and felt lovely. Hopefully we'll get to do more in the future, but we also both write, so maybe we'd write something together at some point, and that would be cool."

They share the same interests 🥺

After they found love in a hopeless place (Hollywood) and connected on set, the duo bonded over the same "nerdy" things—a side of Daniel he'd previously been reluctant to share with women he was interested in.

"I grew up doing lots of things where I thought, 'This is super nerdy. I'll never be able to do this around a girl.' But that's the wonderful thing about the moment you find the relationship you're meant to be in. It's like, 'Oh, I can do all of that stuff and you don't mind. And you actually think it's fun, too. This is fantastic!'" the actor gushed during a 2020 interview with Metro.

Another thing they share in common? An affinity for reality TV. Like, during a 2022 appearance on The Kelly Clarkson Show, Daniel revealed Erin is the reason he "unironically" watches these types of shows. "I don't really believe in 'guilty pleasures.' At one time I would have referred to my love of reality TV and The Bachelor as a 'guilty pleasure,' but I now just have to admit that I'm unironically enjoying it." Same, Daniel. Same.

The Harry Potter alum also listed Netflix's Love is Blind as another series favorite, saying, "Erin got me into it initially, but now I have to own the fact that I'm also like, 'Hey, you wanna put on Love Is Blind?'"

They enjoy their privacy

Both Daniel and Erin have repeatedly maintained they prefer to keep a ~low profile~ and enjoy the privacy they share. "Dating a famous person teaches you very quickly that shit is weird sometimes. People are weird with fame sometimes," Erin confessed during a convo with Vulture after she and Daniel were the subjects of the first celebrity coronavirus hoax (more on that in a bit!). "You do start to dismiss things you read about your partner if you're pretty sure they're not true. We're boring to [the paparazzi]. Ninety percent of the paparazzi photos of us are getting coffee…We've been photographed twice waiting for an Uber. Dan is not the most exciting celebrity."

^No, because they truly were *not* lying. 😂

During a separate interview with Newsweek in 2022, Daniel expanded on how his desire to maintain a low-key life will hopefully extend to his children. "I want my kids, if and when they exist…I would love them to be around film sets," he mused. "A dream would be for them to come onto a film set and be like 'God, you know, I'd love to be in the art department. I'd love to be something in the crew.' Film sets are wonderful places. I think a lot of the time it can be wonderful for kids. But it's really the fame side of it that should be avoided at all costs."

They were the victims of a COVID-19 hoax

'Kay, buckle in, because this one's a doozy. Back in March 2022, a Twitter account with the handle @BBCNewsTonight reported Daniel was "the first famous person to be publicly confirmed" with a case of COVID-19. (And this Twitter account was in no way affiliated with the real BBC News, btw.) Luckily, Twitter eventually suspended the account (because, duh, misinformation), and BuzzFeed was the first outlet to speak with the people behind the hoax.

As for what Daniel and Erin had to say, during that same Vulture convo, they not only fully debunked the rumors but also opened up about the incident and gave readers an update on how they were spending their quarantine lockdown in Daniel's New York City apartment.

"We’re both in the situation where we’ve never been more grateful not to have a kid or more annoyed that we don’t have a dog," Daniel joked about their at-home sitch. "But generally speaking, compared to a lot of people, we are very, very much okay."

The actor admitted that he was "quite amused" by the hoax when he first heard whispers about it, and even added, "It’s not the first time I’ve had something crazy written about me." Oh, and he also said this at the time:

Say what you want, but these two clearly know how to take things in stride!

They don't have any wedding plans in the works—at least, not yet 👀

Though Daniel and Erin have been together for practically a decade, there doesn't seem to be a wedding in the works. "We’re at the point now where I’ve seen my own wedding reported several times. You do start to dismiss things you read about your partner if you’re pretty sure they’re not true. I spent a week once having to text all my family members being like, 'I promise if I’m getting married, you will find out from me and not Us Weekly,'" Erin said during that 2020 Vulture report.

Daniel chimed in and added that his Harry Potter co-stars typically play critical roles in the slew of fictional nuptials that are reported: "At least three different times, somebody has written that we’re getting married, and Emma Watson is gonna be the maid of honor, and Rupert Grint is my best man, and we’re getting married on a lake in Michigan."

Erin quipped, "It’s always very detailed, and with things that would never be true if you’ve ever met us. Clearly they’re like, 'What are the four things we know about these people? Okay, these are their co-stars, and this is where she’s from. Okay, that’s their wedding!'" 😭❤️

They have a baby boy together

Yep, on April 25, 2023, a rep for Daniel confirmed the exciting news to E! that Erin had given birth to the duo's first child together. In true privacy-minded form, they didn't disclose their baby's name, sex, or birth date at the time.

Fast-forward to early July 2023, and the actor spoke with Entertainment Tonight to reveal they'd welcomed a son! Daniel opened up about how first-time fatherhood was going for him: "It's great. It's crazy and intense, but he's wonderful and Erin is amazing—it's a real privilege also to have this time with him."

"I was always going to take some time off, which not everyone is able to do, and so I'm able to kind of just be here with him a lot, which is lovely. So, we're having a great time."

After being asked whether becoming a parent will have an impact on his or Erin's careers, Daniel admitted, "I think it certainly will."

"It hasn't really yet affected things, but I really like spending time with him, and I think I'm gonna miss him when I go back to work later in the year. So, I will definitely be I think a bit more selective—not more selective, I've always been selective, but I think I'll probably work a little bit less for the next few years. I'll never be stopping. I don't think that's good for me either."

More recently, the actors came out in full family force after they took their son out for his first picket line in support of the SAG-AFTRA strike in New York City.

And just a couple of weeks later, in October 2023, amid the opening night of his show Merrily We Roll Along on Broadway, Daniel updated us on his parenthood journey, admitting that it is both "terrifying" and "awesome." "He's great, it's amazing," the actor said. "There's a short answer and a long answer to that. And the short answer is it's awesome and he's the best thing that's ever happened. It's frankly terrifying to have a human being in the world that I care this much about," he added.

The celeb then went on to have the most relatable dad confession ever and explain that everything his son ends up doing will affect how he feels "about my [own] life for the rest of my life. So, you know, that's intimidating."

Aaaaaaand that's pretty much all we know about Erin for now! But be sure to check back for the latest on her and Daniel's adorable 'ship.
