‘Dancing With the Stars’ Fans Must Read Derek Hough's Revealing and Emotional Instagram

Derek Hough is getting emotional on social media, and his words are leaving fans feeling a certain way.

Followers of the Dancing With the Stars judge know him for posting happier moments of his life on Instagram. But in an upload he shared on July 29 (which you can see here), Derek got vulnerable about his feelings on being positive in life. As he shared an image of himself looking pensive away from the camera, he used the opportunity to reflect.

"Sometimes, negative thoughts have a way of overpowering our minds, casting a shadow over our outlook on life," he wrote. "It can feel as if these thoughts consume us entirely, leaving little room for positivity. However, amidst the darkness, the light never leaves. Just patiently waiting to be seen."

He added: "By consciously redirecting our attention to what’s good in our lives, we allow ourselves to experience its warmth and radiance. What we choose to focus on has a powerful impact on how we feel, reminding us that even in the midst of negativity, there is always an opportunity for change and growth. Where focus goes, energy flows."

When fans saw how passionately the Taking the Lead author relayed his message, they immediately resonated with his words.

"You are an amazing human being Derek Hough with so many God given gifts ❤️ thank you for sharing your humor, your kind words, your gift of dance ❤️❤️❤️," one person penned on Instagram. "Such good advice. I’m impressed Derek Hough," another added. "Wow! I needed to read this today. Thank you! 👏," a different follower replied.

While he didn't explicitly share why he felt the need to post the emotional note, Derek has a lot to be grateful for. Alongside the news of Dancing With the Stars season 32 premiering this fall, he is in the middle of planning his wedding to his longtime love Hayley Erbert. He also is up for a 2023 Primetime Emmy Award for Outstanding Choreography for Variety or Reality Programming.

"I am extremely humbled and thankful for this honor," he commented on July 12 on Instagram. "So proud of this piece and thankful for the collaborative effort from every single person involved 🙏🏼 I’ve said it again and again, it takes a village ❤️."
