Professional dancer and actress Julianne Hough might be well known for her bubbly personality and killer dance moves. But she recently showed a different side of herself to fans in a new video she posted to social media.

The 34-year-old Dancing With the Stars alum got vulnerable with her followers on Instagram when she shared a clip on March 7, in which she talked about her personal journey of healing. The video alternated between Julianne at the beach watching the sunset and photos of her younger self in various dance costumes at competitions. Though it didn't specifically go into detail about what prompted the self-reflection, her caption gave a glimpse of her thoughts.

"I’m not going to lie, healing is not easy. Just when you think you’ve reached the center of the spiral, you realize there is another, even deeper layer that you didn’t even know existed," she wrote on Instagram. "But I have faith and so much belief that it is worth it."

Julianne continued: "This journey back to LOVE humbles me every day. To all the beautiful souls who have touched my life over the years and have helped me feel safe enough to break open my heart little by little, with patience and understanding, when all I wanted to do was protect the hell out of it, you know who you are, thank you and I love you 🤍."

Reacting to her emotionally vulnerable post, Dancing With the Stars fans flooded her comment section with loving and supportive words.

"You are very strong, and you have a lot of people who support you, and will help you through your journey of life! You are not alone.❤️❤️❤️🔥🔥🔥🔥," one person wrote. "You got this. One day at a time. Healing is a journey and not a destination as you know Jules 🙌," another added. "You are powerful. Sending you love ❤️🙏🏻💫," a different person chimed in.

It's not clear if Julianne was referring to moving on to the next chapter of her life after amicably splitting from her ex-husband Brooks Laich back in June 2022. But in a recent January interview with CNN about her Broadway play POTUS, she revealed that she was embracing a different kind of freedom both in her personal life and career.

“Life is about choices … I’ve always shared a lot of my personal, private life on Instagram," she told the outlet. "That’s what I’m doing with this show. I’m sharing my life, but through my art expression versus I’m getting on Instagram and telling you all my thoughts and feelings, emotions and private details … This was a show for myself to kind of gain my confidence back of like, you are an artist, you’re not just a performer and you can create.”
