A Dancing with the Stars Dressing Room Makeover for Host Erin Andrews

Erin Andrews can bust out winning ballroom dance moves in high heels and full-length gowns but also knows football better than most. As the sideline correspondent for Fox NFL and a contestant-turned-host of Dancing with the Stars, it seems like there's not much Erin Andrews can't do.

"I am no good when it comes to design. I just can't visualize it," she says with a laugh. One might expect Erin's Dancing with the Stars dressing room to be resemble all things glamorous, but before its makeover, it was quite the opposite.

"There was nothing in here. It was just a bright blue wall, a makeup table and a chair," she says. "I needed someone who could visualize it, and make it a functional and comfortable place to sit all day." Erin called upon Laurel & Wolf interior designer James Tabb to transform the tiny and dull 200-square-foot room into a serene, backstage oasis.

"It's such an awkward space in terms of the size and how many people are in there at a time," says Erin. If designing a tiny room wasn't hard enough, imagine having to create one with enough room to comfortably accommodate an entire glam squad.

"In the makeup and vanity area, I included a console table and several open shelves to ensure there was enough space for all the tools and items needed to get Erin's hair and makeup done. I went with open shelving so everything is easily accessible and within arm's reach of her team," James explains.

Since the small dressing room plays host to a number of people at once, extra seating was a must. A pair of furry ottomans tucked under a glass console table solved this issue and didn't take up any additional space.

Erin wanted the design to include a relaxing sitting area away from the vanity where she could catch her breath, answer emails or visit with guests. The area James created was homey and with the addition of a beautiful drapery wall, any sounds coming from nearby studios were muffled, giving Erin a space she could unwind.

A wide range of cool blue and gray tones made the space feel larger and created a tranquil atmosphere that perfectly matched Erins own California home.

"It has a very beachy style with a lot of Restoration Hardware pieces. Everything is blue, gray, white and comfortable," she says.

Mixing the glamor of ballroom dancing with Erin's taste for modern, relaxed style, the dressing room is a perfect melange of the two. "I'm a girly-girl in the ballroom, but I'm a tomboy when it comes to football. In here, it's a little bit of everything," she says.
