Damsel Trailer Sees Millie Bobby Brown Battle a Dragon

“This is NOT a fairytale.” says Netflix in its official description for Damsel. Despite the swords, the dragons, and Millie Bobby Brown in full-on princess attire, Damsel looks like a fantasy film with bite.

It's set up in the mold of a classic fairytale, with Brown’s Damsel selected to marry a handsome prince, but any illusions of a happy ending soon disappear as she learns the reason she was picked (it’s to pay off an ancient debt and it’s a whole thing).

“Thrown into a cave with a fire-breathing dragon,” writes Netflix in its synopsis, “she must rely on her wits and will to survive.” The trailer teases a glimpse of a cave wall which bears the names of women who came before.

We see Damsel scale a wall of razor-sharp crystals, tear through dark woods on the run from a creature, and face off against a fire-spewing dragon.

The film also stars Robin Wright Penn, Angela Bassett, Ray Winstone, and is set to release on Netflix in 2024.
