Damien Chazelle is back in his musical bag, but this time, he's the writer, not the director.
Matthew Vaughn, whose new film Argylle hits theaters next week, teased to Deadline that his production company has a musical written by Chazelle on the slate that Vaughn plans to direct.
The three-time BAFTA nominee Vaughn has previously directed Stardust, Kick-Ass, X-Men: First Class and three Kingsman movies and revealed to Deadline that a "hush-hush" movie he's calling Project X is already filming.
Vaughn didn't divulge any further info about the Chazelle musical, but the news left fans confused, wondering why the Oscar-winning Chazelle wouldn't direct it himself.

Chazelle became the youngest recipient of the Best Achievement in Directing Oscar for his work on La La Land. His filmography also includes Guy and Madeline on a Park Bench, Whiplash, First Man and Babylon.
Whatever Chazelle and Vaughn are cooking up, it's sure to have eyes on it. Everything Chazelle touches turns to gold.
