In the Hans Christian Andersen fairy tale, as in the semiconnected movie and ballet, red shoes symbolize seduction, vanity, and ambition. On Dakota Johnson, however, they're just cute!
Stepping out in Rome, Johnson added a bright pop of color to one of her typically subdued outfits by wearing patent leather red flats. The Madame Web star had on black pants and a houndstooth plaid coat with tinted sunglasses, and opted for a simple black bucket bag.
Her walking companion was none other than Alessandro Michele, former creative director for Gucci. He, too, embraced the color, wearing red pants and a plaid flannel secured with a Prada fanny pack. White sneakers, black sunglasses, and a Yankees cap completed the look.

Bright red is a big trend this season, with celebrities and models both going for bright red tights, bold red dresses, big red bags, and lots of rosettes. Martin and Johnson began dating in 2017, and she moved into his home in Malibu in 2021; they're in “no rush” to get married, according to a source.
Johnson recently gave a rare glimpse into the super-private couple's life at home with Martin's kids, whom he shares with ex Gwyneth Paltrow. “I think because I grew up in [having a blended family], it’s come more naturally, but I wouldn’t have it any other way really,” she said. “I really wouldn’t. I love it. It feels very honest. It feels really authentic. No one’s hiding anything.”
