It’s no secret that movies and TV shows heavily influence and even define the current fashion zeitgeist. In just the last few months, we’ve seen the emergence of mermaidcore, courtesy of The Little Mermaid, the ubiquitous pink reign that was Barbiecore, and even the quick rise of the “mob wife” aesthetic, in no small part inspired by the 25th anniversary of The Sopranos. Just last night, Dakota Johnson made a jaw-dropping case for a new trend: spidercore.

The Fifty Shades of Grey star attended an event in Rio de Janeiro while wearing a breathtaking ensemble that paid homage to her new film Madame Web, in which she plays the main character, psychic superhero Cassandra Webb.

The star of Johnson’s head-turning outfit was a custom version of the Cobweb Dress by Annie’s Ibiza: a sweeping transparent black mesh gown completely covered in an intricate, crystal-adorned spiderweb pattern, and featuring a trailing skirt, subtle V neckline, and thick straps. She paired the glorious frock with a nude bodysuit and strappy black heels. See her full look here.

To up the ante, she added a matching see-through, jewel-decorated veil that cascaded down her shoulders. Johnson kept her jewelry minimal but beautifully on par, wearing a large black widow ring decorated with small diamonds and glittery diamond drop earrings. She glammed up with rosy red blush, a rich berry-pink lip, and dark eye shadow, and wore her chocolate-brown locks down in soft waves. Consider us convinced.

Johnson doesn’t just set trends, she participates in them too. Last week, she indulged in mob wife dressing for the Saturday Night Live after-party, following her stint hosting the show, making her grand arrival in a transparent ankle-length gown that featured vertical line designs running all the way down, and sparkling sequins throughout, which glittered as they caught the light, over a pair of black underwear. She teamed the bold dress with a luxe black fur jacket made up of lush, wispy feathers and featuring a cropped construction with three-quarter sleeves. For a final touch, she wore black pointed-toe pumps and carried a matching purse.
