Dakota Johnson Looked Like a Blushing Bride on the Red Carpet

Dakota Johnson looked every bit the blushing bride at the annual Governors Awards yesterday.

The 30-year-old Fifty Shades of Gray star hit the red carpet at the Ray Dolby Ballroom in Hollywood looking resplendent in a white two-piece Brandon Maxwell set that we’d definitely say “I do” to.

Johnson selected the finale look from the Brandon Maxwell spring/summer 2020 runway show, which includes a pleated white silk bralette crop top with spaghetti straps and a voluminous white floor-length skirt with a cummerbund waist.

The back was just as dramatic.

The look from the 2020 Brandon Maxwell collection isn’t available yet, but we’ll definitely be keeping our eye out for this two-piece number when it drops.

Johnson paired the bridal-esque look with Messika Jewelry Madeline diamond drop earrings and fall-ready aubergine makeup with a slight Goth element, courtesy of celebrity makeup artist Georgie Eisdell. Eisdell created the beauty look by coating Johnson’s lips in the Dior Backstage lip palette ($49) with matte berry shades, swiping a dramatic plum shadow over her eyelids and applying several coats of mascara.

Johnson offset the formality of her red-carpet look with relaxed tousled waves and bangs created by celebrity hairstylist Mark Townsend, who lists Elizabeth Olsen, Kristen Dunst, Killing Eve star Jodie Comer and more as clients. Townsend broke down Johnson’s look on his personal Instagram account, explaining it as having “lots of movement and volume” and listing Dove Dry Shampoo ($5) as the key ingredient to her bouncy lift.

Forget Fifty Shades of Gray. We’re feeling Johnson’s all-white look way more.
