Dairy Queen Is Giving Out Free Cheeseburgers This Week

Have you ever wondered what the point of those “national” food holidays, actually, is? We don’t have the real answer, either, but we’re pretty sure it’s just a good excuse for us customers to get free food from our favorite restaurants and brands.

Half of the time, we don’t even know it’s a “holiday” until a restaurant announces it's giving out free ice cream or french fries to “celebrate.” And if it’s free—or insanely cheap—we have no complaints.

With National Cheeseburger Day on September 18, it seems like some of our most-visited restaurants are trying to outdo one another with deals. McDonald’s is selling its cheeseburgers for $.50, while Wendy’s is selling them for just one cent. But Dairy Queen just entered the scene with a deal that can’t be beat.

Free Dairy Queen Cheeseburgers on National Cheeseburger Day

Dairy Queen sees your cheap cheeseburgers and raises you a free cheeseburger. No, seriously. On September 18, you can get a free single Original Cheeseburger with any order of $1 or more at DQ.

To nab the free cheeseburger, all you have to do is download the Dairy Queen app and sign up for a free My DQ rewards account. Then, you’ll find the deal in the “My Deals” section of the app, which you can use both in-store and online via mobile ordering. To apply in the app, just click “Use in Mobile Order,” and it will automatically take the price of the cheeseburger off your total—after you add another item that’s at least $1.

If you’re ordering in-store, just order an item that costs $1 (before tax) and an Original Cheeseburger, then show the deal’s barcode in your app for the cashier to scan.

The deal is only available on September 18, and it can’t be used with any other deals—so if you wanted to score your $.85 Blizzard, you’ll have to do that another day or in a separate transaction.

But you can still try one of Dairy Queen’s fall Blizzards and get a free cheeseburger out of it.

With so many deals on September 18, it can be hard to choose which one you’ll score. However, the good news is that you don’t actually have to choose. You can run through every fast food restaurant’s drive-thru and have an incredibly cheap multi-course burger night in celebration of the tasty holiday.
