Daily Lift Ticket Prices Inch Closer To $300 At Luxurious Utah Ski Resort

Deer Valley, Utah is known for being one of the best ski resorts in the world when it comes to trail maintenance, trail grooming, snowmaking, accommodations, entertainment, and dining.

The resort is frequently mentioned in the same breath as resorts like Aspen, Jackson Hole, and Sun Valley Resort.

Exclusive luxuries come at a price, however. Park City-based publication TownLift is the first to report that Deer Valley's walkup lift tickets will cost a whopping $289 ($315 after taxes and fees) next season.

*Editor's Note: To clarify, Deer Valley walkup lift ticket prices will range between $189-$289 per day based on demand. See second photo below for the daily January 2024 online lift ticket prices.

Skiers can save up to $100 by purchasing lift tickets in-advance, but those looking for a spontaneous day of skiing will have to shell out the big bucks.

Deer Valley uses a dynamic lift ticket pricing model that changes based on seasonality and demand. For example, lift tickets during Christmas and New Years are still $279 when purchased online. Only discounted $10 from their window price.

Ski resorts across the country are using a similar model to encourage guests to either purchase lift tickets ahead of time, or to buy a season/mega-pass like the Ikon Pass, which Deer Valley is featured on.

After scrolling through Deer Valley's full season calendar, it appears that the majority of days throughout the season will cost either $249 or $259, when purchased online.

The lowest listed price is for early-season tickets in December at $189 per day.

We're not there just yet, but the moment that skiers have been fearing for years seems to be right around the corner- the dreaded $300 daily lift ticket.

Arizona Snowbowl was technically the first ski resort to eclipse the mark this past season when a major winter storm sent dynamic pricing through the roof. Tickets were selling as high as $309.

Is it possible that daily lift ticket sales at major resorts like Deer Valley could cease to exist entirely if prices continue to increase?

It doesn't seem too far out of the realm of possibility.
