Netflix's latest true crime hit, DAHMER - Monster: The Jeffrey Dahmer Story has become the second biggest series in the streaming platform's history. The controversial Ryan Murphy-produced series stars Evan Peters as the notorious cannibalistic serial killer, who murdered and dismembered 17 Black, Asian, and Latino men from 1978 to 1991.

While it received criticism from victims' family members and Netflix subscribers alike, the dramatized retelling of Dahmer's gruesome murders topped the streamer's global Top 10 English TV List with another 205.33 million hours viewed.

The show has earned a total of 701.37 million hours viewed in its first three weeks. It earned 196.2 million hours watched in its first week and an additional 299.84 million hours viewed in the second week.

Per Deadline, this makes DAHMER - Monster: The Jeffrey Dahmer Story Netflix's second most popular series of all time behind the fourth season of Stranger Things, which garnered over 1.35 billion hours viewed within its first month of release.

Dahmer's executive producer, Ryan Murphy, is known for his hit shows Glee, POSE, Scream Queens, and American Horror Story. He has also found success in the true crime genre with award-winning shows like American Crime Story and Netflix's record-breaking DAHMER. His upcoming Netflix release, The Watcher, is based on an unsolved true crime case and will likely attract a large viewership, too.
