Dachshund Meetup in NYC's Washington Square Park Is Truly the Stuff of Dreams

If you were to ask us what our idea of Heaven is, it would be the Dachshund meetup that happened in Washington Square Park. The day looked absolutely delightful, and brought Dachshund owners from all corners of the city out to congregate and celebrate their favorite breed.

Footage from TikToker Mac shows just a snippet of the day's events, but it looks like it was an absolute blast.

If you ever wondered how many Dachshund owners there are out there, the answer is a lot. Like a lot, a lot. And the clip shows just a handful who live in New York City.

People came from all walks of life to attend the meet up in the park that day — some even dressed their Dachshunds up in cute accessories or costumes. While others showed up with their multiple Dachshunds in tow. Someone even wrote a "Dachs Song" that all the dog lovers could sing together.

"Yesterday was the best day of my life," Mac wrote in the caption. And TBH, we don't disagree. This was one for the books.

People online were positively jealous. "HOW DID I MISS THIS," exclaimed one person. "YOU'RE TELLING ME I WAS IN THE CITY THIS WEEKEND AND MISSED THIS," another commenter lamented. "Can someone personally text me next time this occurs?" a third commenter begged. "I'm devastated that I didn't know about this," admitted someone else.

How to Find a Dog Meet Up Near You

What could be better than finding a group of like-minded dog lovers who have the same breed? Pretty much nothing in our book. So whether you have a Dachshund, a Golden Retriever, a Boxer, or even a Pug there are clubs and meet ups which will cater to you.

Facebook is a great place to connect to other dog owners. There are groups for all sorts of breeds, and refining your search to groups in your location means that you can even meet some of these people IRL.

Another great resource is Instagram. There you can find all sorts of meet ups and gatherings. Browse through hashtags or even post that you're looking to connect to other dog owners in the area. You never know what it may bring you.

Meetup.com is another way to seek out and find pet groups nearby. And you can even set your notifications to alert you every time there's a new social event. So cool! Just imagine what it will be like to walk into a park full of people who love your dog breed just as much as you do. It'd be like a family reunion, except with way more barking and fur.
