Cyrus Audio’s ‘Classic’ range of hi-fi separates was introduced to the world just over a year ago.

This new range included the Classic AMP integrated amplifier and Classic PRE preamplifier, both sporting the company’s familiar half-width chassis design.

It’s not often we see such a price drop on this type of product so soon after launch, however, the Classic PRE has seen a £1000 drop from its price tag, down to £1595 from its usual price of £2595.

The Cyrus Classic PRE launched just over 12 months ago and while we are yet to test this preamplifier, Cyrus is a brand with a great track record based on our past testing. The PRE aims to give life to a classic design and look, with new (and hopefully improved!) inner workings and circuitry. View Deal

Cyrus says that in the process of creating the Classic PRE, it used all that it learned while developing the XR Series while retaining what made a classic design so popular.

The internal circuit design, however, has been completely redesigned and upgraded by the Cyrus team, which is said to have resulted in sound quality improvements.

The front panel is simple and clean, featuring buttons to select inputs, mute, and phones. Alongside is a precision gain control for volume.

The Cyrus Classic PRE features a wide range of inputs and outputs on the rear of the unit, allowing it to be integrated into a wide range of different systems.

It boasts four analogue line level inputs, one phono moving magnet input for turntables, two coaxial digital RCA inputs, two digital optical inputs, two balanced XLR outputs, as well as a headphone output. It also features an upgrade port for keeping the firmware up to date.
