Cynthia Erivo's Golden Globes Dress Took 800 Hours to Make

Cynthia Erivo may be a red carpet newbie, but that doesn't mean she's afraid to take a fashion risk. Take, for instance, the pink-feathered Marc Jacobs ballgown she wore at the Harriet premiere in Los Angeles, or her 2017 Tony's look — a Diana Ross-inspired dress that combined thousands of Swarovski crystals, a plunging neckline, and a fringed train into a single garment.

Since she rose to fame for her performance as Celie in the Broadway revival of The Color Purple, the Tony-winner has proved she's a style star — and this award show season is shaping up to be a platform for her best looks yet.

First up, the 2020 Golden Globes. At the event, Erivo stunned in a strapless body-skimming Thom Browne gown that reportedly took a whopping 800 hours to make. Erivo told E's Ryan Seacrest that Browne worked with her to custom design the gown to include favorite flower, peonies, on the lining — and that her stunning necklace included $3 million worth of diamonds.
