Every now and then, a video bubbles up on social media that makes us pinch ourselves in appreciation that, for all the ways we push ourselves on bikes, we’re still safe and on solid ground. Footage released this week by the Wisconsin Department of Transportation is one such example.

Recorded on July 4th of this year, the video shows a bicyclist weaving through the lowered warning gates of a drawbridge in Menasha, Wisconsin. As she pulls around to stop in front of the bridge span-which had been raised to allow boat traffic to pass-she accidentally falls through the gap between the span and the ramp, tumbling off her bike and toward the water below.

A little more than a minute later, people in the area run over to help, pulling the rider to safety. Alerted to the incident, the bridge operator reportedly kept the span open until the gap was clear.

Police said the cyclist, a 37-year-old woman from Menasha, was taken to a nearby hospital and treated for injuries to the face.
