Amid a growing number of cases of the COVID-19 coronavirus across the United States, CVS is now offering free home deliveries on all prescriptions at all of their retail locations. The company announced the change on Monday, which will waive any and all delivery fees on prescriptions, attributing it to wanting individuals at higher risk of contracting the virus to be able to stay home if they so choose.

"Being committed to the welfare of those we serve means being responsive to evolving needs and acting swiftly," Troyen Brennan, Executive Vice President and Chief Medical Officer, CVS Health, said in a statement on the company's website. "This is particularly true in times of uncertainty. The latest steps we're taking will help ensure patients of all ages have every option available to them when it comes to filling prescriptions."

CVS's statement also referenced the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention's recommendation that "people at higher risk for COVID-19 complications to stay at home as much as possible," and said that their new free prescription deliveries will be a convenient option for those wishing to do so.

"When you're in a position to increase convenience and help provide some peace of mind, you act," Brennan continued. "As long as COVID-19 continues to be a threat, we'll maintain a relentless focus on how best to serve our patients, members and customers."

According to Forbes, other pharmacies and drugstore chains are expected to soon follow suit as the number of coronavirus cases continues to rise.
