Cunning receives Woman of the Arts recognition

Apr. 21—Local artist Kathleen Cunning was this year's recipient of the Molly Corbin Chapter's DAR Woman in the Arts Recognition Award.

The purpose of the Woman in the Arts Recognition Award is to recognize and honor a woman who has exhibited excellence in her chosen genre. Cunning is a retired art teacher with the Weatherford ISD, a member of the Texas Watercolor Society, the National Watercolor Society, the Society of Watercolor Artists and is 2nd vice-President of workshops and demos with the Weatherford Art Association.

Every other Tuesday, Cunning is a volunteer watercolor art teacher at the Parker County Senior Center. Her painting styles include realistic interpretations of chrome on vintage automobiles, rusted objects and weathered woods.

DAR Regent Georgianna Braden introduced the award and presented Cunning with a certificate and pin.
