Why are Crumbl Cookies so popular?

Just walking into a Crumbl store is an experience in itself without even eating anything. All of the cookie bakers are in sleek black tee shirts sporting the Crumbl logo and greet you when you walk in. The open kitchen is a treat, as you can watch the cookie magic take place among bowls of fresh eggs and mountains of chocolate chips beside a sampling of the week’s offerings.

I can see why people come away with boxes of four or six (or more) cookies at a time and can't wait to record every bite when they get to their car. When your order is up, they call your name and open the box for approval before sending you on your way. Carrying out the tiny pink box capped off the experience and made it feel very exclusive—like I had a special little treat all to myself that nobody else knew about.

What is the trending cookie at Crumbl this week?

This week’s Crumbl cookie that people are buzzing about is the Honey Cake: a graham-flavored cookie with honey butter frosting, a light drizzle of honey and topped with two Teddy Grahams. It joins Chocolate Mallow Cupcake, Peanut Butter, Milk Chocolate Chip, Classic Pink Sugar and their mystery flavor (which can vary by store but many stores have Cake Batter Blondie this week). Previous popular unique flavors this year include French Toast, Everything Bagel, Lemon Cheesecake and Cotton Candy.

What does the Honey Cake cookie taste like?

The cookie itself was heavily nestled in its pretty pink packaging. Circles of sweet honey butter frosting covered the top with a drizzle of honey over the frosting. The two Teddy Grahams perched on top, waist-deep in the frosting, seemed to cheer me on as I took my first bite. One of the bears on mine was sadly missing an ear, but it made me fall in love with the little cookie even more. The honey butter frosting is rich, smooth and tooth-achingly sweet. I don’t think it needed the drizzle of honey on top, but it was aesthetically pleasing. The cookie was a cross between a graham cracker and a sugar cookie—chewy but firm and softer toward the middle, the way all cookies should be. However, the crumbs that showered down off of it after taking a bite (perhaps where the name Crumbl comes from?) reminded me of a Nature Valley granola bar (if you know, you know).

I can see why TikTokers are saying this one may be a little too sweet because this is one sugary cookie with a combo of honey and honey butter frosting and it may be too much of a good thing. And while it’s a good cookie and it’s very cute, it might be soaring in popularity because of the slight nostalgia factor. Eating it reminded me of Dunkaroos with cute animal crackers dipped in sugary frosting.
