Cruise Down the Danube on This Eight-day Trip With a VIP Stop at Oktoberfest

Oktoberfest, the world’s largest beer festival, draws 6 million people from all over the world — and everyone’s there to do one thing: drink. As you’d imagine, things can get a little crazy. This is only half the appeal of U River Cruises Oktoberfest experience, which promises the calm and quiet of your home on the water when Munich’s festivities get to be too much.

Aboard U River Cruises’ The Danube Flow itinerary, travelers start in Regensburg, Germany and end up in Budapest, Hungary — making nine stops and traversing through three countries along the Danube river.

During Munich’s Oktoberfest, the well-timed itinerary includes a stop near Germany’s iconic beer and folk festival. Travelers who book the cruise’s supplemental Oktoberfest Package enjoy roundtrip transfer to Munich by train, reserved festival tent seating, a traditional Bavarian meal, and a two-liter beer — and that’s just at the festival. The party continues on the ship with festival-inspired cocktails, German beer on tap, and onboard Bavarian cuisine.

The eight-day cruise includes seven nights’ accommodation, three daily onboard meals, and excursions led by local hosts. Cruise guests will explore Regensburg’s Old Town (which boasts the highest density of pubs and bars in Germany), bike along the Danube, visit some of Vienna’s famous opera houses, and explore a castle after-hours.

Prices for the cruise start at $2,218 per person and the Oktoberfest Package is an additional $189 (169 Euros) per person. The Oktoberfest experience is only available on two sailings: Sept. 28 and Oct. 5.
