"Cruel Summer" Renewed for Season 2
Cruel Summer, Freeform's latest hit series, was renewed for a second season ahead of the season one finale.
In a statement, Freeform President Tara Duncan noted how huge the show has become for the network as fans continued to tune in every single week to find out the truth between Jeanette Turner and Kate Wallis.
"Renewing Cruel Summer for a season 2 was an easy decision," stated Duncan. "It’s the biggest series debut in Freeform’s history and the audience response has been overwhelmingly positive. Jessica, Michelle and Tia did a phenomenal job telling an addictive story that’s tapped into the cultural zeitgeist. I’m excited to see where they take the series next."
Along with being the network's most-watched series ever, it was also the most-watched next-day season 1 title from a linear channel in its first 7 weeks to date on Hulu, showing how much streaming has also changed the game for series.

Details on cast returns and episode counts still have yet to be revealed, but series showrunner Tia Napolitano is excited to continue.
