The Crown Season 4: Is This Our First Glimpse of Prince William?

Season three of The Crown just hit Netflix a few weeks ago, but speculation is already flying about season four, which actor Josh O’Connor—who plays Prince Charles on the show—has hinted might be coming our way in 2020.

Photos from the set of the fourth season have begun to leak, affording us a first look at Emma Corrin as Princess Diana and the possible return of Claire Foy in flashbacks as the younger incarnation of the queen. Now, another set-photo leak suggests that Prince William—as an extremely cute baby—will also feature on season four.

The photos, which can be seen over at ET Canada, depict a crying baby being carried in the direction of a waiting airplane. The photos appear to be a match with Charles and Diana’s real-life tour of Australia in 1983, on which they were accompanied by none other than an infant Prince William. At the time of his parents’ Australia tour, William was nine months old, and it will be interesting to see how The Crown covers his early life.

As for whether we can expect William’s younger brother to also feature in the show soon, Prince Harry was born in 1984, just two years after William, so he could very possibly make an appearance.

Diana broke barriers after her sons’ births by openly discussing postpartum depression, which hardly anyone—let alone a member of the royal family—did in the 1980s. (After all, the topic is still little discussed, even today.) Will season four of The Crown delve into the topic? Hopefully—we only have a year or so until we find out.
