'Criminal Minds' Fans, Matthew Gray Gubler Dropped a Major Hint About His Next Project

Although Matthew Gray Gubler is not currently starring in Criminal Minds: Evolution, the actor has kept himself busy with other ventures. But between publishing a new children's book and releasing merchandise, does he have an entirely new career trajectory in the works? According to a seemingly reliable internet source, it may be so.

A short while after the actor posted on Instagram his plans to expand his literary empire, a curious development popped up on his official website. When perusing the "Movie Theatre" section of the internet page, three hand drawn subdivisions appeared and steered folks to highlights of Matthew's résumé. While the "Stuff I Directed" and "Stuff I Acted" branches mostly showed his accomplishments on Criminal Minds, a drawing with a peculiar message stood out on the page: "Coming Soon."

After clicking on the image of what appears to be a rabbit in a top hat, it leads to a message alluding to a different phase in Matthew's career. "Gubler Land is a production company dedicated to honoring and expanding the timeless magic of storytelling," read the official note. "Stay tuned for more information."

With this in mind, does this mean Matthew is stepping away from acting in exchange for a life behind the scenes? That's probably unlikely, as he starred in other works (like the Hulu series Dollface and movie King Knight) since the first iteration of Criminal Minds ended in February 2020.

But as his IMDB page points out, he does have a few producing credits under his belt. Coupled with the note left on his website, it's plausible to think he might be exploring other options alongside acting and maybe try his hand on this side of Hollywood.

Even with this seemingly obscure clue about the Band of Robbers star's next means of employment, let's not forget he still has other things coming down the pipeline. Matthew's upcoming book The Little Kid With the Big Green Hand is set to publish on September 26, and he continues to sell products based on his 2019 New York Times bestselling title Rumple Buttercup: A Story of Bananas, Belonging and Being Yourself.

Who knows, maybe his first producing credit from Gubler Land will star a friendly green monster ...
