As the expansion of the original CBS series that ran for 15 years, Criminal Minds: Evolution picked back up where the original show ended. The series begins after the pandemic ends, and it's up to the BAU elite team to take on a major threat known as UnSub who used the pandemic to build a prolific network of other serial killers.

Is Criminal Minds: Evolution season 2 happening?
The show's Instagram posted this exciting announcement prompting a flood of emotions from watchers.
The post captioned, "Wheels up for another season!!! 🎉 #CriminalMinds" was bombarded by ecstatic fans who left comments like, "Never ever everrrr cancel this show. PLEASEEEE" and "LEASE HAVE REID IN THIS NEW SEASON. 🙏 YESSSSSSS MAKE ROOM FOR MATTHEW GRAY GUBLER."
Tanya Giles of Paramount Streaming made a statement saying, "We're thrilled to bring even more twisted storylines to our loyal fans of Criminal Minds: Evolution with the order of another season." She continued by expressing, "The series has always been a consistent top performer for Paramount+ and fans have quickly embraced this new season with its more serialized elements. There are still many dark twists and turns yet to come for the BAU this season and we can't wait for fans to see what's in store."
Who will be returning for Criminal Minds: Evolution season 2?
The new series reunited original cast members including, Joe Mantegna (David Rossi), Kirsten Vangsness (Penelope Garcia), Adam Rodriguez (Luke Alvez), A.J. Cook (Jennifer Jareau), Aisha Tyler (Tara Lewis), and Paget Brewster (Emily Prentiss).

Paramount+Noticeably absent from the cast are Matthew Gray Gubler (Spencer Reid) and Daniel Henney (Matt Simmons). Fans have made sure their strong opinions were clear on the show's Instagram and in a unanimous decision, we can all agree we'd like to see their return in season 2.

No word yet! But as we await news of an official premiere date for the next season, our fingers are crossed that Gubler and Simmons' characters will make their way back to the BAU!
