Shemar Moore is recovering from a surprise health condition, and he just clued fans into what happened on social media.

In a new video uploaded to Instagram, the Criminal Minds alum revealed he recently underwent surgery to correct bunions on his left foot. Sitting on a couch alongside his podiatrist Dr. Robert J. Joseph II, Shemar appeared to be in good spirits as he showed off the bandages helping him heal from the procedure. Dr. Joseph further noted on his account that the actor needed the operation due to one of his toes going inward and not being able to bend.

"What's goodie — it's Shemar Moore in the building," he said in the clip posted on May 15. "God and my momma blessed me with a lot of things. But from the ankles down, I was all f------ up. But, Dr. J. is about to make me a foot model."

As the S.W.A.T. actor is known for his work in high-level action TV shows, fans were immediately concerned for Shemar's well-being. They flooded his Instagram with kind messages, wishing him well as he healed.

"Foot surgery recovery is not easy. There is lots of pain. Sending you love! 💓," one person wrote in the comments. "Get better and take care of yourself and take it easy ❤️❤️❤️❤️," another added. "Ouch!!! So sorry sending healing ❤️🩹 hugs to you!" a different follower replied.

Shemar's latest news comes after a whirlwind cancellation-turned-renewal for S.W.A.T. season 7. Luckily, he'll have some down time to get better, as there is currently no exact date for when he's expected to start filming again.

As for his recovery time, materials published by the Cleveland Clinic indicates that most patients who undergo bunion correction are in recovery for at least six weeks, ranging up to 3 months, while their bones heal. Shemar and others who have undergone the procedure will likely need to use crutches, scooters or walker to keep weight off their recovering foot; many doctors recommend physical therapy to help regain full motion over time. Usually, after three months, most can return to regular activities — but swelling may occur up until nine months after the procedure is done, per the Cleveland Clinic.

Wishing Shemar a speedy recovery!
