Crested Butte Confirms Opening Day For '23/'24 Season

The countdown to finally clicking into skis, after weeks spent dusting off gear and grinding bases, has reached the final week for the Coloradan resorts of Crested Butte and Beaver Creek.

Just today, Crested Butte announced that they (and Beaver Creek) are officially one week out from opening day, which is scheduled for November 22, exactly one day before Thanksgiving.

Those visiting either resort can count on an array of fun events. At Crested Butte, there will be banner breaks, giveaways in the lift lines, free snacks (such as muffins and hot cocoa!) limited edition opening-day posters, and even outdoor, live music from Red Lady Express.

Crested Butte boasts over 561 acres of double-black-diamond terrain, making it an exciting place for a first day of dusting the rust off and racking up those early-season lines. But there’s plenty of skiing for beginners, too: the newly-installed Peachtree lift offers plenty of mellow runs for skiers looking to ease into the steep stuff.

At Beaver Creek, there will also be a banner break, free chocolate chip cookies, and a bloody mary bar at Spruce Creek. But besides the celebratory atmosphere, there are activities for the whole family: the resort is ending the day on a high note by holding a cookie competition in Beaver Creek Village.

Both resorts are on the EPIC pass, which increases in price on November 19th. This season, guests have the mobile option to use the Epic app and store their passes on their phones.

Do you have work off for Turkey day? Are you most stoked on Crested Butte or Beaver Creek? No matter what, skiers everywhere are likely grateful things are moving in the right direction. Let’s pray for enough pow to keep things going that way!
