Doug Ellin, the writer and creator of the wildly popular bro drama Entourage, is getting fans' hopes up and dropping hints that he might be making plans to bring the show back.

According to Kevin Dillon, who played Johnny "Drama" Chase on Entourage, Ellin is finally opening up to the possibility that there could be more stories to tell after seeing how many people are continuing to watch the show during quarantine.

"Isn't that just a great show for a pandemic," Dillon said in an interview with ComingSoon. "I've been working on Doug for a long time and finally he said, 'I would maybe consider a reboot of Entourage.' Wouldn’t that be cool? All the actors want to do it as well." He's certainly right that at least one cast member is keen to return to their Entourage character: Jeremy Piven has made no secret of the fact he thinks Ari Gold, the slimy agent he played for the duration of the show, is worthy of a spinoff.

Ellin has since commented on Dillon's remarks, but has steered clear of outright confirming or denying that a reboot or revival could be happening. "I am considering my consideration," he wrote on Instagram. "We are growing and the love for Entourage is definitely on the rise. I appreciate each and every one of you you."

Entourage was executive-produced by movie star Mark Wahlberg, and was inspired by real-life stories about him and his friends during the early days of his career in Hollywood. Within the show, Adrien Grenier's character Vincent Chase is the Wahlberg analogue, and the series follows both his ascent as an actor, and the misadventures of his close male friendship group.

It aired on HBO for eight seasons from 2004 to 2011; a successful and respectable run, by any standards. That's just as long as Game of Thrones, after all (and with a less controversial ending). But even after almost a decade with these characters, fans' appetites weren't sated, and a feature film was eventually made and released in 2015, serving to give audiences one last outing with the gang, and wrap up each character's individual story.
