Crankworx New Zealand Cancelled Following Devastating Fires

Some unfortunate news came out of New Zealand today, the Crankworx Summer Series has been forced to cancel the remainder of the series due to fires sweeping the country.

Take a look at the announcement from event officials below.

It goes without saying that this is a major bummer for the Southern Hemisphere riding community and even more of a bummer for New Zealand as a whole as it is being ravaged by wildfires.

Extraordinary amounts of resources have been devoted to fighting the Port Hills fire which now has spread to over 700 hectares and affected at least 110 properties.

In addition to the damage this fire has already caused in the Christchurch area, police are also reportedly looking into the possibility that the fire was caused by arson. Police are not making the call one way or another yet, but they are exploring any leads surrounding the cause of the fire.

We wish the people of Christchurch the best in dealing with this fire.
