I refuse to go out without this $7 lip gloss that’s honestly better than the Dior Lip Oil

One of the most shocking days for any beauty enthusiast was when the matte lipstick trend died a quick and shocking death. Basically, everyone swapped out the drying bold colors for plump, shiny and moisturized lip glosses and oils. Myself included!

The shiny glossy lip product at the top of everyone's wishlist is the $40 Dior Addict Lip Glow Oil. The Dior Lip Oil is so viral that it sold out everywhere for the entirety of 2022. As someone with four in their beauty arsenal, I can say that it is worth the hype — mostly. It's just the $40 price tag that gets me every time.

After my favorite pink shade of the Dior Lip Oil turned decidedly less pink and more congeal-y, I decided not to repurchase and find something new. I really didn't want to spend $40 again. It's a lot! I thought I would have to go through a major trial and error process to find a good replacement, but the right one just fell in my lap: The $7 CoverGirl Clean Fresh Yummy Lip Gloss.

Oh, and it's available on Amazon and over at Ulta for easy breezy beautiful shopping. (Pun absolutely intended. Sorry, not sorry.)

The CoverGirl Yummy Gloss comes in so many different colors, but I'm obsessed with this pink shade.

Before I get called out, I am very much aware that the CoverGirl Clean Fresh Yummy Lip Gloss is a lip gloss and not a lip oil. But you need to trust me when I say it's much more similar to the lip gloss-oil hybrid of the Dior Lip Oil.

Swiped on the lips, the CoverGirl Clean Fresh Yummy Lip Gloss is lusciously juicy, long-lasting, non-sticky and effortlessly colorful in a "no makeup makeup" kind of way. And it actually lasts so much longer than the Dior Lip Oil. I mean, the under-$8 price tag doesn't hurt, either.

While there are so many impeccable shades out there, I'm obsessed with the light pink shade Havana Good Time. It's soft, shiny, subtle and pink — and I am nothing if not a pink girly. The Havana Good Time shade even perfectly matches every vibe I'm going for. Whether I'm aiming for an effortless barefoot beach look, Barbiecore or mysteriously sultry wedding guest vibe, it works. I even use it to look magically put together for a last-minute Zoom meeting. Wild.

For comparison's sake, I've found Havana Good Time similar to the Dior Lip Oil shade 001 Pink. Both of these light pink shades look excellent over pink lip balms and lipsticks (like this one from Dior) but also pair well with any color lipstick.

So if you're looking for an affordable alternative to the Dior Lip Oil or are just down to try a great new lip gloss, you can grab the CoverGirl Clean Fresh Yummy Lip Gloss for less than $8 on Amazon and Ulta.
