It was a different kind of friends reunion for Courteney Cox and crooner Ed Sheeran. The BFFs celebrated the Friends reunion by reenacting an iconic scene from the show — and they nailed it. In an Instagram post, Sheeran shared a clip of him and Cox performing the dance from "The One with the Routine" an episode from Friends's sixth season, where Cox's character, Monica, and her brother, Ross, show off dance moves that they practiced as kids hoping to get on New Year's Rockin' Eve.

"Had a reunion of our own this weekend," Sheeran captioned the video, adding the hashtag #betterthanross. In the clip, they get the choreography down without an issue — until the end. Unlike the show, where Ross and Monica finish with a camera-ready pose, Sheeran and Cox tumble to the grass as their cameraperson laughs.

For anyone wondering how Sheeran and Cox connected, he lived in her Malibu home rent-free while he recorded his album, x, back in 2013. In an interview, he explained that while he didn't pay for the privilege, he helped out to earn his keep.

"There was no rent but I made the bed and cups of tea and things like that," Sheeran told The Sun. "If you're staying at your friend's house, you should treat it like your own."

Variety notes that HBO Max's Friends reunion, which premiered last Thursday, nearly took the record of most-viewed title on the platform, coming just behind Wonder Woman 1984.
