Couple Uses IKEA Kitchen Countertop to Create Stunning Built-in Desk

These Instagram DIYers are getting too smart! Soon we will seriously have no reason to spend tons of money on designer custom furniture pieces and we are not mad about it. Turns out, all you need are some IKEA pieces and some creativity. Both of which, we already have.

Instagram creator @whatsonemorepothos usually posts his beautiful plant family but recently he has really been getting into interior design, working on everything from guest bedrooms to DIY slat walls! One of his most popular videos is where he built custom office desks for himself and his wife. Props to her because she was the one who came up with this idea! If you've been trying to think of new ways to customize your home office without breaking the bank, this one is for you.

If you work from home or just need a solo space to call your own in your house, then this is a great way to elevate your space and make it look professional and cozy at the same time.

Forget those pricey custom desk sets that cost thousands of dollars just to install. Try building your own from scratch! That's what this husband did after his wife suggested it and it turned out amazing.

This couple's goal was to build a custom desk for the back wall of their bedroom but they wanted to save some cash. So they headed to IKEA and picked up some basic cabinets as well as a kitchen countertop to replicate a marble desk top.

For the IKEA units, they picked up the IKEA BESTA, the IKEA BESTA TV unit, and the IKEA TOLKEN countertop in both the long and the short sizes. For additional supplies and to keep the cabinets from getting scratched and moved by the countertop, they grabbed some anti-slip table bumpers from Amazon

Finally they could put it all together. They arranged the cabinets across the back wall leaving ample space in between for a chair, then laid the countertops across the cabinet units. That was all it took! Now they have so much space for office supplies and this can even be used as a vanity. They even were able to fit their TV on the other side.

Whether you're redecorating a home office or a master bedroom, this is a genius hack for a luxury product.
