A major battle of Instagrams is taking place. Travel photographers Jack Morris and Lauren Bullen discovered someone was copying their account, shot for shot.

The couple have amassed more than 2 million followers between them and travel the world, taking inspiring shots to share with their fans.

Plenty of people draw inspiration from others, but one in particular stood out. Bullen, who posts as Gypsea Lust, noticed that the owner of another Instagram account was taking copying to the extreme, traveling to the same locations, wearing the same clothes, and posing in the exact same way.

Bullen posted screenshots of the extremely similar images on her blog under a post titled “Imitation is the sincerest form of flattery.”

“We work extremely hard to create the work we do. Stealing someone’s art – that’s never okay,” she wrote in the now deleted post.

The copycat account has since been made private, but enough screenshots were taken to last a lifetime.

It’s not clear exactly how much the couple with the copycat account spent re-creating the images, but a night at Charisma Suites in Santorini, Greece — which the couple tagged in one of their posts — starts at $420. A night in a pool suite goes for $677.

Bullen has since updated her post, saying: “This story has blown up across the world, and this was never something I was expecting or even crossed my mind. I have been back in contact with Diana [the owner of the copycat account] and we have addressed this entire situation together.

“She is of no threat to me or anyone else and she has agreed that it was over the line. We are all human beings – we all make mistakes.”
