An Alabama couple racked up a $10,155 bill at a Hampton Inn and then fled, according to law enforcement officials.

Lee Roe, 36, and Ashley Bey Roe, 34, were taken into custody on Saturday and both face charges of grand theft between $10,000 and $20,000, the Monroe County Sheriff’s Office said in a news release.

The Roes treated themselves to longer stays from October to December at the hotel chain’s Key Largo, Fla., location, the sheriff’s office said.

According to a Hampton Inn manager who contacted law enforcement in December, the couple didn’t need to hand over their credit card at the beginning of their stay since they were members in the Hilton Honors Rewards program. As part of the hotel’s policy, guests who are enrolled in the program don’t have to initially provide credit card information when they check into the hotel and are required to show only photo ID.

The Roes were guests at the hotel from Oct. 20 through Nov. 3, receiving a $3,229.88 bill. They then stayed Nov. 3 through Nov. 10, receiving a $1,931.90 bill, and again on Nov. 10 through Nov. 17, totaling $1,921.64. They then returned on Nov. 26 through Dec. 3, for $1,767.36, and again on Dec. 4 through Dec. 11, totaling $1,304.31. Their stay, which was 43 days in total, cost a grand total of $10,155.09.

During one of these stays, the couple did provide the Hampton Inn with a credit card. By the time the hotel learned it was a stolen credit card, however, the Roes were gone.

The manager contacted Ashley Roe on Facebook. She blamed a “David” for the missing funds and then blocked the manager from communicating with her on the platform, the Monroe County Sheriff’s Office said. Warrants were then issued for the couple’s arrest.

According to the Miami Herald, the Roes both talked with investigators. Lee Roe said he booked the hotel through a “booking agent” and regularly used Walmart to send $400 to this person to pay for their hotel. He said he didn’t realize that the credit card on file was reported stolen and thought Ashley handled the problem. Ashley told a similar story. However, the couple’s explanation as to why they couldn’t pay the hotel directly was not in the arrest report, the Miami Herald reported.
