No one may be more confident in himself than Liam Neeson. The actor—who once told Esquire UK that he would have been a forklift driver at a Guinness factory had he not pursued a career in film—is as grizzled and straightforward as ever.

Gearing up for the upcoming release of Marlowe on February 15, Neeson is the latest movie star to portray the famous 1930s detective Philip Marlowe, as made famous by Humphrey Bogart and Elliott Gould before him. Ahead of the thriller’s release, he sat down with Esquire once again for the latest episode of “Explain This.” First up was a question fans were dying to know: would Neeson ever return to the world of Star Wars for a Disney+ series? “No,” he jokingly growled. “I don’t do television. I don’t do the small screen.”

Neeson also revealed that he could tell a horse he worked with for The Ballad of Buster Scruggs remembered him from a prior Western film that they shot together. “I gave it some candy bar, and I know it recognized me,” he said. (Damn, animal actors are amazing.) Referencing his entire career—including Taken, Darkman, and Love Actually—Neeson even discussed a “rude” interaction he had with director Rob Reiner as he auditioned for The Princess Bride, as well as how Americans are wrong for calling cinemas "movie theaters." Now “go and watch Marlowe, otherwise I will find you," he warned. Watch the video above for more from the great Liam Neeson.
