You Could Get Paid $64 an Hour to Visit Christmas Markets and Drink Mulled Wine

One of the best parts about the holiday season is browsing through Christmas markets. The twinkling lights. The holiday-themed tchotchkes. The delicious treats that instantly warm you up on a cold day of shopping.

But, like with all things, it would be nice to actually make money at a Christmas market instead of just spending it. If you’re in the U.K., you’re in luck.

According to Metro, an online exhibition platform called ExpoCart is looking for a part-time Christmas Fair Tester to visit various holiday markets in England, Scotland, and Wales — and drink mulled wine while they do it.

ExpoCart said in a statement on its website that this is a very crucial job for the company’s market research, since it is planning to expand to the market and fair industry next year. “Unfortunately we don’t have the resources to send a member of our team to all of the Christmas markets the UK has to offer,” it says on the ExpoCart website. “Then we got thinking...this is a dream job for most people...go to Christmas markets, enjoy the festivities, do some shopping, drink some Gluhwein...why not hire a member of the public to do this invaluable market research for us?”

The chosen candidate will visit at least 10 markets between Dec. 6 and Dec. 24, including the Birmingham Christmas market, Edinburgh Christmas market, and Winter Wonderland, among others. During their visit, this Fair Tester will have to report back on the things they find (types of vendors, equipment, etc.) and take quality photographs.

By Jan. 10, this person will have to write up a 750-word report with photos for each fair.

Luckily, this position is also well-paid. The Fair Tester not only will have their travel expenses comped, but they will also be paid £50 (about $64 USD) an hour and get to bring a friend to every fair they visit.

The ideal candidate must already be located in the U.K. and have a full U.K. driver’s license. Applicants must also be at least 18 years old and be completely obsessed with Christmas and everything Christmas-related, according to ExpoCart.

In order to apply, simply fill out the online form on the ExpoCart website and tell the company in your own words why you would be the perfect Christmas Fair Tester. There is currently no application deadline, but will likely be before Dec. 6.
