This year, Discovery Channel's annual Shark Week programming will take place on the week of August 9 to August 16 and deliver over 20 hours of jaw-some content to shark lovers. The event will pay homage to the 20th anniversary of Air Jaws, as well as highlight how the current global lockdown has allowed our sharp-toothed friends the opportunity to reclaim the waters. But besides the exciting content offerings, there's one more reason why you might just want to keep your eyes glued to the screen: you could win $1,000!

USDirect, the authorized dealer behind DIRECTV, is looking to fill this seasonal dream "jawb" as it writes on its website. "To celebrate Shark Week, we’ll fork over $1,000 to one brave soul willing to watch every minute of 2020 Shark Week," it reads. The person selected will then have an important task at hand: to rank all the shows in the following categories: most entertaining, most informative, most fearsome (scariest), and most surprising. He/she will also have to document their daily viewing experience as well as share any facts learned on social media.

In addition to the $1,000 prize, USDirect will send its dedicated Shark Week watcher an official survival pack filled with Shark Week T-shirts, themed socks, snacks, and more. This person will also get streaming access to the cable TV event, which is perfect for someone who may not have access or who wants to watch around their own schedule.

To be considered for this fin-tastic role, you can apply here until July 27 at 5 p.m. ET. Make sure to have your favorite shark fact ready! Plus, if you're feeling extra fierce, you can add a short video to your submission. According to the terms and conditions, the winner will be notified within seven days by email and/or letter after submissions close.
