This Could Be the Most Relatable Thing the Queen Has Ever Said

Queen Elizabeth may be England's reigning monarch, but she just got real about something a lot of people deal with: braces. According to People, during a visit to the Royal National ENT and Eastman Dental Hospitals, the queen told kids that were getting fitted for braces, known as wires across the pond, that she knew exactly what they were going through because she'd gone through the same process.

"I had wires, luckily it was a very long time ago," she told one of the patients, adding. "I think it’s worth it in the end."

While the royals don't mention orthodontia often, the queen isn't the only one who's had to endure the slow and often painful process of getting straighter teeth.

People notes that both Prince Harry and Prince William have had some sort of braces. Harry showed off his braces in 1999 during the royal family’s annual Christmas Day church visit. William has been photographed with a permanent retainer on his lower teeth. Princess Beatrice and her sister, Princess Eugenie, also wore braces as teenagers.

During her visit to the hospitals, the queen met with patients and their parents as well as the dental and ENT staff as they had routine checkups and adjustments to their braces. The guest of honor was met by waving Union Jack flags and wore a regal purple coat and matching hat.
